Hi I am having the following same problem as someone on Google groups: 'Whenever I request a file from someone or bot with the command, '/msg xdcc send #' or '/ctcp xdcc send #', I always end up with the samethings. The transfer window will pop open and will show in the Status as Accepting send, but it inevitably fails and says Connection failed.

But in the channel window, I get this: -IMP-DCC99-. You have a DCC pending, Set your client to receive the transfer. (150 seconds remaining until timeout) And it will eventually time out and the transfer will fail.' I have gone into the options menu and folder options. There I disabled 'ignore' and unchecked the '3 sec' option. Note that I can download fine if its a regular DCC file. Its the xdcc that doesn't work.

Hey everyone im trying to download something and the download starts to happen and it says 'accepting send' then all of a sudden 'connection failed' and then i get a.

Yes, I am behind a router based firewall and I haven't touched or opened any ports. Its a SMC barricade. What port should I open, if any?

I have also tried to do a xdcc transfer using the IRC client called 'Virc'. That just worked fine. Using Mirc version 6.03.

Quote: The only thing that got changed was that server option is checked instead of local. That's a common problem when firewalled. 'local' will make mIRC think your IP is your machine's local IP (on your lan) while 'server' will make mIRC think your machine's IP is the IP the IRC server sees (which should be your firewall's IP). Why does this matter? Well that IP is sent to the other computer as the IP to connect to. If you send your LAN ip (such as 10.x.x.x), you'll never get the DCC. Now 'server' can also fail with some IRC servers that mask parts of the host names.

In that case you might have to enter your IP manually. Generally though the 'server' setting is best. Edit: You can diagnose this by looking at the IP and local host displayed in 'local info' (the same place where you change the setting) when you're connected.
