Well, I'm not convinced you are computer unsophisticated; since you are knowledgable about torrents. I don't mean to preach but it sounds like you are looking for a pirated copy of Finale. It's not difficult to find Finale 2012 and earlier versions for both Mac and PC on the Internet. Google search for a bargain price.
The 'Student' version is full-featured. If you take music lessons from anyone, you will probably qualify for the 'Student' price. I doubt many vendors require proofthat you attend an accredited academy of music.
